    Description

Found within the pages of an old car book was this paper written by Thos. H Wickenden for the Development and Research Department of The International Nickel Company (Inc.) 67 Wall Street, New York.  It appears to have been removed from a 2 ring binder as there are 2 holes punched through.  This appears to be a technical paper discussing speeds, cylinders, crankshafts, heat treatments, connecting rods..it is quite technical..For example.."The single quench after carburizing at a temperature of 1425-1450 degrees F is used in order to refine and toughen the core, bringing it up to its maximum strength." There are graphs discussing metal analysis.  There is a TABLE discussing data on Indianapolis races from 1911 to 1927.  Wickenden worked for International Nickel during the 30s, Asst R & D in 1932.  There is no date and the only other copy of this I can find is in some library in England.  I estimate this printing at 1927- 1930s.  The paper shows age, has fold linesand a slight separation on the center fold line.  Questions and Comments welcomed!
