    Description

One of several items from an estate comes this rare Icom model IC-T81A hand-held
FM transceiver. This is a rather unique in that it
includes four bands, 50 MHz, 144 MHz,
440 MHz and 1200 MHz. It also has broadband
receive, letting you listen to things like
aircraft, FM broadcast and more. I have programed the
radio on each of the four bands.
It receives as it should and transmit on all.
The issue is that the transmit audio is very low. Stations called report they have a very hard time
    hearing the unit even though
have correct output as the signal received from it put the contact
unit into full quieting. I had to speak very loud into the mic to be heard.
The auction includes only the radio, a non-rechargeable battery with 3 AA batteries. The battery
Pack was found with batteries that leaked and a lot or corrosion. Cleaned it up enough to be
to get it operational with it. Also includes
an antenna as shown which is not the
    correct antenna.
Also included is Non Icom wall wort to
power the unit. With the dry cell pack only provides
    about 4 volts so unit
    doesn't develop full
power. With the external powerpack it does. I didn't
check the output power as I don't have
the equipment. Compared to another handheld I have
it seems to be putting out at least 4-5 W. The rubber cover that covers the mic/phones jacks
is missing. Has some scuff marks and scratches. Look at the pictures to see physical condition.
Due to the issues and condition sold as is parts or repair. No returns accepted on this item.
