    Description

This is the NorCal 40 transceiver designed by Elecraft co-founder Wayne Burdick, N6KR, back
in the 90's.  This unit was built and calibrated by NorCal club member and beta tester Dave
Meacham, W6EMD, SK.  Dave improved the heat-sinking for the output power transistor
allowing it to transmit at over 3W, vs the 2W spec. It incorporates an electronic iambic keyer
sub-assembly from Oak Hills Research for use with a paddle. It also accommodates a
straight key with a separate jack.  For convenience when using an auto-tuner, a Tune button
on the back panel can also activate the transmitter.
This rig is tunable from 7.006 to 7.0046 MHz.  The measured output into a 50 ohm load is
about 3.5 watts.  The RIT range is +/-2kHz.  The circuit description and more detailed
specifications and schematics can be found in the NorCal 40 Assembly and Operating
Manual found at the norcalqrp site.
The rugged aluminum case is painted navy-blue and measures 4.75W x 4.5D x 2.25H in.
The overall depth including connectors and knob is 6".
