LOCKECUSTOM COACHBUILDER CATALOG – PORTFOLIO
1920’s
Locke & Company (Rochester NY & New York City) custom coachwork catalog/portfolio. Eight-page catalog plus eleven sepia coachwork illustrations on heavy cream-colored plates - all in an orange cover. 7.3” x 10.3” (18.5cm x 26.2cm). The catalog has separated from the cover due to rusting of the staples over time, but the catalog’s stapled binding itself is intact for all eight pages. The cover, catalog pages, and coachwork plates are all clean and unmarked, but show signs of almost 100 years of aging – slight yellowing and darker edges. Please see the illustrations in this listing. This is a very rare item, as in 40 years of collecting automotive sales literature, I have never seen another copy of this catalog/portfolio.
The eleven plates illustrate coachwork styles on Lincoln and Marmon chassis:
Lincoln:
“Convertible Phaeton” (top closed)
“Convertible Phaeton” (top open)
“Imperial Design” (landaulet)
“Special Design” (Convertible Coupe)
“Victoria Coupe”
“Special Design” (Formal Coupe De Ville) (2 plates of same design)
Marmon:
“Four-Passenger Sedan”
“Cabriolet” (Open Town Car)
“Seven-Passenger Berline Limousine” (2 plates of same design)
I am not a dealer, but rather an individual who has collected automotive sales literature for four decades, and it is now time to sell off my duplicates.
Please look at my many other automotive and other items currently listed on eBay. Thank you.
